LPM - Live Performers Meeting
The LPM project was born in 2004 with the aim to answer to the need for creating a space-temporal referential field where to meet, know each other and share vjing related experiences. Nowadays LPM is an international meeting dedicated to artists, professionals and passionates of veejaying, visual and live video performance.
FIFTH EDITION
LPM 2008 closed the doors of its fifth edition with a smash hit, expanding locations and contents. An historical location, the Macello IV del Mattatoio di Testaccio in Rome, hosted the four days of the Meeting, with a broad program of A/V performances, workshops and showcases of projects, softwares and cutting-edge products. Four days, each one focused on different basic themes: Digital Freedoms, 8 Bit/Eletrropop, Breakbeat/Techno/Electro, Visual Genders.
For the Digital Freedoms session, dedicated to digital freedoms: LA DEGRADARTE, "When, how and why from a copyright law born an artistic and cultural provocation." Among the Vj protagonists: Ser (Spain/Germany), vj who corporated with important artists such as Ellen Allien, Dj Hell, Rush, Fangoria, Moby, with the performance Input data, a performance that show the power of phisical computing; Dr Mo. (UK), photographer and videoclips director, with Space travel: an endless series of pictures took in all the cities he visited in the world.Among the workshops: freej o.s. Videomixer.
For the Elettropop/8 bit session: LeCollagiste (France) with VeeJinima, visual inspired by a imaginary videogame; Hiroshima Denryoku (Japan), Japanese Techno Collective; Synesthete (Turkey) with Signal to Noise, the performance analyzes the energy spread by the plants; the Vj duet Visuallab from Bologna, with Is you: tribute to the french artist Sophie Calle, awarded at the past edition of the Biennale di Venezia. Besides: TheSAD (Milan), Loco y Libra (Barcellona/London) KlipMan (Rome).
For the BreakBeat/Elettro/Tekno session: Toby Spark, one of the most important international VJ and founder of AVIT, historical english festival became now a network of Festivals and international events focused on live video; Homemade, french project which aim to face visual art using interdisciplinary approaches, with Just Alice 02, performance inspired by the hallucinatory, fairy-tale world of Alice in the Wonderland. Besides: VJ Tintin (Marseille), Brandy Alexander Project (London).
Visual Genders is the basic theme of the last day, with visuals dedicated to the Queer world and to the fleeting border among sexual genders. Among the main characters: Polivisioni, Vj collective from Cagliari (IT) with Ero/sono; Strap on Dildos, french collective of visual artists, musicians, performers, dancers and sex workers. And more, the launch of the contest organized by AMORE, giving the chance to perform at AMORE 09, one of the most important electronic event worldwide. Among the stars of the Queer Rome scene: Infidel, resident vj for PHAG OFF; Paco Nazim, vj for AMIGDALA and ROBOTERIE; RedNikita plus Vivel. Among the Djs: Hugo Sanchez and Warbear (resident vj for PHAG OFF). In the end the prize-giving of DEGRADARTE contest: the vjs has improvised a three minutes video inspired by the movie Zatoichi by Takeshi Kitano using exclusively degraded images. Up for grabs one CODANOVA midi controller - cutting-edge technology product.
